Metal Bulletin’s European ferro-vanadium price fell to $24.80-26.00 per kg, compared with $25.50-26.30 per kg on October 11, when prices fell by 10 cents at the high end of the range.

A lack of consumer enquiries in recent weeks has driven traders to slash their offers to secure orders, market participants said.

“The consumers had been holding off since September; now the traders are fighting each other for the business and now we have the domino effect,” a second supplier source told Metal Bulletin.

But the trading range widened because many suppliers stood firm at higher levels, according to market sources, most of whom said $26 per kg was the top of the market.
